mindset journey |
Despite whatever is happening from the start of the year 2020(A virus killing the actual lives and my dreams, too), I am here in my home and trying to be tangible to go into what I actually learned in the last 5-year. As an online blogger, numerous people( seniors, my batchmates, and juniors) ask me why I am writing blogs on the technical niche. Few advised me that this mineral industry is dirty and no future after the coming five years. Others guided me in learning data handling/analytics and applying for a business analyst or making your profile for business development.
If mining is the metal management tree's roots, mineral processing is a trunk and metal as a fruit where all the new branches are known as metal processing or material science.
However, I have a stark contrasting perspective. I don't think this industry is all done with innovation and improvisation in the designing process. As humans continue to move forward for development, we will require metals and eventually,, mineral processing. The definition of mineral processing is not similar to ore dressing or coal preparation, or mineral washing. I see mineral processing as a branch of science which deals with minerals to transform them into usable products. If mining is the metal management tree's roots, mineral processing is a trunk and metal as a fruit where all the new branches are known as metal processing or material science. Therefore, mineral processing is abridged between mining and metal management.
In long speeches and political lectures, leaders tend to talk about sustainable growth and a low carbon footprint. Still, we never talk about viewing the same engineering with an out of the box perspective. We want metals at the expense of little energy, but no one is putting research and development steps to go in that area. Seeing mineral engineers dealing with theoretical knowledge constraints and overloading demands, I can see innovation is a solution. A world with a growing population is now demanding more and more metals in daily life. On the other hand, mining engineers are digging deep into mother earth, where the ore grade is decreasing. On the flip side of the coin, a metallurgist can only build a new plant for pure metal production but cannot bear low grades. I can see mineral engineers responsible for processing massive tones of ore with maintaining ore grade in the middle of all. In this situation, I can see the possibility of research and innovation.
From the beginning of the 21st century, humans are throwing massive amounts of E-waste, which previously dumped. But as a mineral engineer, that e-waste is plainly ore-body for me, and I can see the future of new types of mineral and metal resources and novel processes to separate them. How amazing it is to view that we will process these metal bodies that were actually separated from earth bodies.
This pandemic hits me a hard, sudden loss of job from TEREX and then no available opportunity to go outside of India for further studies, but I see this worst time as a challenge to my interest. I am observing my core roots of happiness in this engineering field, coping with the situation. I know this engineering field is actually gone be my life long career (If I could live long).
Starting my own blog page has never been there to make money, but a humble way to give back what I learned(Kind of payback). I am gone a write about all the mineral separation processes for economic minerals. I also starting a new section under letstalkmineralprocessing as a let's talk with mineral engineers. I am hosting a series of interviews with mineral engineers who had varying roles of dusty and different work experiences. I hope you will love what I am planning.
Actually, This work is not investing garbage time into something productive or time-consuming, but its a utilization of time to help a student who might be going to face similar unknowns of this branch; when I was in the undergraduate program, I was lost from my career path so I can relate with this problem. For those students who are unaware of existing knowledge, current opportunities, and many other things, I want letstalkmineralprocessing.blogspot.com to become a platform where students hope to find solutions for their problems. I am trying to make blogs more informative and zero garbage words.
If anyone wants to collaborate with me, then I am open to doing it. If you wish to donate anything, then please help me with this link.
